We are WAKE UP THE YOUTH. Our goal is to raise awareness to this generation, especially to the youth, that we have no time. We need to wake up before climate change ends the humanity and our future.
Climate Justice
We are aware that the current climate problem must be urgently addressed because, if it is not stopped, it will cause a global disaster. Therefore, it is essential to demand climate justice from the governments and corporations that have done the most to degrade the environment. These parties are responsible for the climate crisis due to their willful ignorance of it, willful contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, and continued use of environmentally harmful practices.
Urgent Climate Action
In order to lead the global effort to combat the climate problem, we must inform and mobilize the youth. We also acknowledge the importance of taking scientifically-based climate action. It is critical that we proclaim a climate emergency as defined by the people and have clear strategies in place to address the immediate and potential long-term repercussions of this climate disaster since the Philippines is among the most susceptible regions on Earth to climate change.
Youth-led Collective Action
As a youth alliance, our goal is to bring together as many young people as possible. The younger generation will inherit the world, but we don't want to be left with a lifeless one. In order to demand justice for the Earth, there is a need to organize and collectively raise the alarm. The historical successes of mass action have demonstrated the necessity for the young people of the Philippines to stand together in the multigenerational, cross-sectoral struggle for the survival of our species.
Defend our Environmental Defenders
Environmental defenders around the world suffer from thousands of human rights violations. With the Philippines as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for environmental defenders, the call to stop the persecution of those in the front lines of environmental defense must ring loud and clear. Our call for climate justice must include justice for those in the front-lines of the fight for our planet.
System Change
We acknowledge that the primary cause of the ongoing climate problem is the wasteful, profit-driven global system. Since the development of coal-powered industry, these sectors have continuously warmed the atmosphere, causing catastrophic climatic shifts. The dominant system of greed encourages businesses and governments to destroy the environment and produce copious amounts of waste with the intention of making the most money possible. It is necessary to implement system-wide change and action to move toward a pro-environment, pro-people, planned, and needs-based system in order to stop further global degradation.
